My first foray into reading was when my sister told me how much i would enjoy it. She gave me a copy of, "B is for Betsy." I was not captured by it. There were far too many other things to be doing, but in an effort to please my big sister I read every other page - I was very good at compromising.
A few years later, a book did capture my interest and I was hooked. I've spent the rest of my life to date with my nose buried deep in one. I never go anywhere without something to read just in case traffic comes to a stand still or I end up in a hospital waiting room. You just never know!
In my twenties, I began to write - Just for me - an audience of one. In my thirties and forties I began to enter contests and win. And I began to listen to the encouragement of others to share.
My stories are often filled with family drama. Although I live in a relatively low-key, drama-free family I am fascinated by people's motives and secrets and the trouble they invite into their lives. Relationships between flawed individuals (as we all are) is emotional on so many levels, but can teach us so much about trials and tribulations - and solutions and forgiveness.
I find so much joy in creating characters, but even more in providing entertainment for people and connecting with them. My readers are so inspiring and it's a pleasure getting to know them. I pride myself on writing stories you can share without worrying about offending anyone - stories you can pass down to your daughters and on to your mothers. I sincerely hope I accomplish that and give you, the readers, hours of enjoyment.
I am a native of Florida. I married a man from Alaska over thirty years ago. I believe that early penchant for compromise has served our marriage well - although I give him some credit for keeping us strong as well! We have lived in various other places through the years (Texas, Louisiana and throughout the whole state of Florida.) We have settled down in Central Florida, where I now live and write. We have a daughter, son, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter.
I enjoy beach days, interior design and home rehab, family time, and escaping into one novel after another. I am best known among my family and friends for my fierce competitiveness at board games, my tireless endeavors to mimic all things Pinterest, and (according to my kids and husband) panicking over unlikely to ever happen worse case scenarios.
It's important to note I prefer cake to ice-cream (it just goes better with a cup of coffee) but have never turned down a bowl of ice-cream.
Of all the awards I could ever win, one titled, "Most relatable character" would thrill me most. I would take to the podium and say, "Thank you God for giving what was needed to write. May I never take it for granted, and may I use the gift wisely."
